At the announcement of his death, the world of literature, beyond its country of South Africa, which pays homage to this great intellectual figure of the African continent. On July 13, Nadine Gordimer died in Johannesburg at the age of 90 years.

1 Nobel, 15 novels and over 200 new

Novelist, short story writer, playwright, essayist, books of this icon of the struggle against apartheid have enjoyed considerable success in the world. “A foreign world”, “The late bourgeois world”, “Conservative”, “Burger Girl,” “Those of July”, “Domestic weapon” …: the work of Nadine Gordimer – eminently policy – is 15 novels and more than 200 new, which for the most part, as a backdrop of south African society as the pangs of racial segregation and trying to break free.

In 1991, she received the Nobel Prize for Literature, she dedicates “all Africans” .

Intimate friend of Mandela

As she recounted in an article published by the New Yorker in the death of the first black president of South Africa, the daughter of Jewish immigrants from Europe had become the confidante of Nelson Mandela. She disappeared a few months after a friend with whom she shared so many values ​​and secrets, while all a priori separated.
