Fondatrice de « Beauty by Mathy » en 2013, la makeup artist Mathita N’diaye Soupin est arrivée de Paris pour renforcer l’équipe des maquilleuses retenues par la maison « La Perle Noire ». Cette chef maquilleuse d’origine sénégalaise a, de part son talent et sa gentillesse naturelle, contribué de fort belle manière au succès des JTEX 2016. Interview.

Il est vrai que ce fût un challenge pour moi de maquiller autant de modèles. Heureusement, Mme Badirou avait prévu deux assistantes afin de m’aider à sublimer les filles et faire en sorte que les mannequins gardent un teint zéro défaut, durant tout le défilé et cela, en dépit de la chaleur. Nous avons commencé à maquiller les filles trois heures avant le grand show. Au fur et à mesure de leur passage, nous faisions des retouches poudre. Le petit plus que l’on a utilisé c’est le « milk of magnesia« . Il s’agit d’un produit détourné par les youtubeuses américaines. Ces jeunes femmes curieuses et férues de maquillage se sont rendues compte que ce laxatif était un excellent matifiant ! Depuis quelques années, les maquilleuses professionnelles s’en servent. Je dois dire que c’est formidable pour matifier, spécialement lorsqu’il fait chaud.

En matière de maquillage, le nude reste un intemporel. Il y a aussi les rouges à lèvres sans transfert (encre à lèvres, ndlr) qui tiennent merveilleusement bien. Pour toutes les carnations, les couleurs chocolat ou bordeaux foncé, comme on a pu le voir sur certaines photos de Rihanna, font fureur en ce moment.

Le meilleur conseil que l’on m’ait donné est celui de garder un plan de travail propre et ordonné. Sinon, au fur et à mesure que l’on maquille, on ne retrouve plus ce dont on a besoin, par exemple lors des défilés de mode. Cela entraine donc une perte de temps et le maquillage effectué en pâtit forcément.

Le make up faux-pas reste pour moi le contouring. En principe, c’est une technique utilisée au théâtre ou par les drags queens. Quand on ne la maîtrise pas, il vaut mieux ne pas la faire, car mal effectuée, cela devient horrible. Et cela, je le vois tous les jours dans les transports en commun.
